How to get rid of sugar cravings
Sugar cravings are very frustrating. We all had them at some point of life. Some of us are naturally better at managing these, some are not managing it to well.
Lets look today at the ways we can get rid of sugar cravings for good.
- I have found that an immediate sugar craving can be resolved with consuming 1 tablespoon of coconut oil mixed with honey.
If you are one of these people who have terrible sugar cravings, please keep a small jar of coconut oil in your handbag. Mix 4 tablespoons of coconut oil with 1 teaspoon of honey. This is a quick fix while you are adjusting your diet to a better one. One that incudes balanced wholefoods and plenty of fiber.
- Eat more proteins and fats. These foods entering your small intestine will trigger the to release CCK hormone, which is a hormone that regulates the feeling of satiety. That hormone will suppress the hunger and prevent the sugar cravings. Make sure you eat protein, fats and carbohydrates at every meal.
- Avoid simple carbohydrates loaded meals. Forget about having this delicious looking pasta dish, the white bread sandwich, or that muffin. Carbohydrates loaded meals will leave you experiencing highs blood sugar levels due to the glucose overload and when the blood sugars levels drop suddenly, you will experience sugar cravings. Again, remember to mix carbohydrates, proteins and fats at each meal and choose carbohydrates that are rich in fiber such as brown rice, wholegrain bread, and whole meal pasta. You will need to stay away from sugar for at last 2 weeks to help your body fight of the addiction.
