Many people believe that soy products are a healthy source of protein. This is especially problematic for Vegetarians and Vegans who may use soy products as alternatives. The most common soy foods include; tofu, soy milk, soy beans, and soy sauce. Unfortunately, most soy products are not good for us.
Why avoid soy?
Soy products that are not fermented are one of the hardest foods for our bodies to digest. They irritate the digestive tract and block the absorption of many vitamins and minerals.
Soy is also very high in anti nutrients and high in phytoestrogen. Phytoestrogen mimics the female sex hormone oestrogen. For this reason child soy formulas should also be avoided. especially bu children. Did you know that baby feed on soy formula ingests the pro-setrogenic effect equivalent to taking 5 birth control pills per day?!
As you can see, it is better that we avoid consuming soy products . There are other alternatives available to Vegetarians and Vegans, such as other beans, nut milks, legumes, seeds and grains that are also high in protein.
Watch the video below for a more detailed discussion about soy products.
